IPL 2020: MI vs DC Game Plan 3 – The Bumrah Factor

MI vs DC – The twenty-seventh match of the IPL 2020 tournament between the teams, Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals, could all be about match-ups. We take a look at a key game plan that could play a role in the twenty-seventh game of the IPL – MI vs DC

Mumbai Indians, after the defeat in their first game against CSK, have bounced back strongly, winning 4 of the remaining 5 games and losing the super over in the other. The fact that Jasprit Bumrah is the key in MI’s bowling attack can not be denied, which is even more evident from the fact that in the two games MI have lost, Bumrah had off days.

For MI to win, they need Bumrah amongst wickets. As simple as that. As evident from the numbers, Bumrah has picked a wicket every 9.2 balls in the games MI have won as compared to a solitary wicket in 8 overs in the games they have lost.

IPL 2020: MI vs DC Game Plan 3 – The Bumrah Factor

Known for his pinpoint yorkers, Bumrah has tried to be more versatile this season in terms of his length. The short length balls have not been as effective and against Delhi, he might be forced to resort to his primary weapon, the yorkers.

He has been quite successful with the good length and full-length balls but is yet to pick a wicket on bouncers and conceded more than 9 runs per over on short length balls.

Except for the experienced Dhawan, almost all of Delhi Capitals batsmen have found it tough against Bumrah. The fast bowler has been specifically good against the hard-hitting Rishabh Pant, dismissing him three times in 22 balls.

For Delhi, they need their experienced campaigners in Dhawan and Iyer to negate the Bumrah threat, so the remaining batsmen can take on the other bowlers.
