IPL 2021 : Delhi Capitals appoint Colonel Vinod Bisht as Interim CEO

Delhi Capitals, on Saturday, have appointed Colonel Vinod Bisht as its interim Chief Executive Officer after Dhiraj Malhotra parted ways with the franchise following his appointment in the BCCI.

Malhotra had an assuring presence in Delhi Capitals and ever since he joined in 2019, he was one of the most defining members of the squad. Under his tenure, Delhi reached the playoffs for the first time in nine years and did one better next season, reaching the finals.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dhiraj for his time and efforts for our franchise,” DC Chairman Kiran Kumar Grandhi said in a media release.

“It has been a remarkable last two seasons for Delhi Capitals, and Dhiraj has been a crucial part of it. All of us at the franchise would like to wish him the very best for his future endeavours,” Grandhi added.

However, his departure to the BCCI position led the DC role to Colonel Vinod Bisht who will be in charge as interim Chief Executive Officer. Bisht was a paratrooper with over two decades in the Indian Army and he will now take charge with immediate effect.

Jindal thanks Malhotra for his effort in Delhi

Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal lauded the efforts of Dhiraj Malhotra during his tenure and expected Bisht to take the flag onward and upward.

“Dhiraj will always remain a part of the DC family. I would like to thank him for his tremendous role in getting DC to where it is off the field,” team co-owner Parth Jindal said.

“I wish him all the very best. Delhi Capitals will now put its best foot forward to take the team’s performance to the next level under the able guidance of Colonel Bisht,” he added.
